JOURNALISTS OF THE DAY
APRIL 18

Tuesday 2013 April 18

Today we took the metro, which lead us to a place called Gracià, more particularly  to the “Placa Del Diamant”.
We gathered together to learn about the “Genius Loci” (spirited guide of a place).

The task that was given to us was finding our own Loci in a particular location. In order to do this we separated in four groups and we all went our own way, with the condition to stay close to this area.
When each group found it’s place, we had to imagine how our spirit looked like and how he acts.
After this we had to imagine an activity transferable with children.

Example: one group had imagined their loci to be a dragon standing on the roof of an old market.

The building was very dark and had some broken pieces (it looked like the skin of a dragon). The building was surrounded by fences to protect it. The children represent the fence that have to stand in a circle where they are very close to each other. One child is outside the hole and has to get inside to get the treasure ( like the birds that try to get inside the building). So the children are the fence and the dragon.

In the afternoon, we came back to the hostel where Belgium (the French speaking community), Barcelona, Hungary and Portugal presented each their school system.

After that we all had a time to prepare our lesson plans, then to prepare Friday morning activities with pupils. The teachers had their staff meeting.

At 19h, we gathered to call the dragon and listen to the Hungarian’s story.

After supper, the Germans entertained us with a presentation of their country and 3 activities (dance, song and clay activity).

Doing some Streetart in Barcelona - Interview with Meike

Felicitas: What is Street art for you?

Meike: To use the environment of the city, to show the art to everyone who is watching carefully.

F: What did you used as material?

M: Old used toys, some crap, a whole in the wall, just everything what crossed our way.

F: How did you know something about that kind of art?

M: I saw a film about Benksy, it was called:”Exit through the gift store” And today they showed us a power point presentation with some information about street art and some artists.

F: What impressed you the most?

M: I really like the tiny figures from an artist, maybe it is difficult to tell.

His name is Slinkachu, his work is really funny, I think. And also some of his work is critical and provocative.

F: So, what have you done today?

M: We used some little cars and had also a little figure.

We found a hole in a wall and made a little “car crash”. And the little figure was watching at it. It looked funny, I really enjoyed it.

F: Ok Meike, thank you for your time and the interview.
