In the morning

With Mrs. Luycks we discovered the nature with senses.

  1. First we did a little game; we picked the name of an animal. And we had to go away and make the sounds of the animal and try to find who had the same animal. Then we went to him walking in the same way of the animal.

At the end we made a little concert with all the animals.

  1. 3 little activities with mirrors.
The first one was walking on a line guided by the teacher. We held the mirror on our nose directed to the sky. It was as if we were walking on branches and we had the sensation of falling down when there weren’t any branches more.

The second one: We had to make a little walk in the forest with the mirror directed behind us so we had to walk backwards and try to find our way between, branches, sticks of wood,…

The third was a hiding game, someone had to go somewhere in the forest (but we still had to be able to see him) and we had to reach him in the same way as in the second game.

  1. We found a long and high tree trunk lying on the ground and the maximum of the group had to stay on it. So we had to find the best way to sit and how to go on it. It was really hard because we did not realize that we needed space to climb on it.
  2. We had some place with a lot of obstacles to pass through. We had to run and go as fast as possible to a precise place. After that we did again by holding someone by the hand, then in groups of 4 persons and at the end all the group together (still holding hands).
  3. Someone was blinded and another person had to direct him on a walk in the forest without any word or any sound. It was not easy because we had to find the good way to hold the blind person and to make him pass some obstacles. It was not easy to secure the person and made him feel safe.
  4. In groups of 4 persons, one was blinded and three others took place like a triangle. The blind had to come near each person when he heard the sounds (chosen by the group before, like clapping hands or rubbing the ground with the feet,…). The blind had to find each person one by one.
  5. ‘Ariadne’s thread’ - There was a thread that made a kind of circle between trees. We were all blinded and we had to follow the thread with the help of our hands but we were not allowed to push on it, it was just a kind of map that we had to follow. It was really great, because we had to be aware of all kinds of things (turn around a tree in the right direction, branches,…)

With Mrs. Mouffe and with Mrs. Fuchs

Mrs. Mouffe (inside):

  1. We listened to a song : Kangaroo’s song
  2. First we had to jump like a kangaroo when it was the orchestral part and to swing when it was the lyrics moment.
  3. Secondly we made noise with the natural material when it was the orchestral moment and we stopped when it was the lyrics part and listened to the silence.
  4. After we played the rhythm with a natural instrument when it was the orchestral part and we walked when it was the lyrics part.
  5. We were sitting in a circle and we had 2 mussels or 2 snails and we had to do a different movement with the instrument. Than we had to do it again and the others had to repeat the movement.
  6. We were sitting in a circle and we had to give the fluffy kangaroo to the next person and to make him jump in rhythm.
  7. Finally we learnt the lyrics of the song in French.

Mrs. Fuchs (in the forest):

  1. We learnt the rhythms with a German method. We had to take one thing we knew the name of and 2 things to make percussions.
  2. We sat in a circle in the forest. She taught us the rhythm with the pictures with the notes.
  3. Later she played the rhythm with a djembé and we had to repeat this with our natural instrument.
  4. Then she played a rhythm and we had to recognize it and show the picture.
  5. Afterwards in small groups of 3-4 persons, we had to invent a ‘choreography’ with the different rhythms. We presented this and the others had to recognize the rhythms.
  6. And then we made an instrument with branches, cords and caps.
  7. For the end we sang the kangaroo song while we were playing the instrument.

In the afternoon

  1. First we tried to see the differences between the school now and before by putting some words on the appropriate side of the board (now / then).
  2. We also made a book by folding a paper. We had to put in it what preschool means for us and all the competences and skills we develop in our country.
  3. Then we had to prepare, in groups, presentation activities to do on Monday morning with the children of the school in Gesves.

We had to introduce each other, present our project.

We had to include the fact that the children had learned how to say “Hello” in every language we speak. They had also learnt to situate each country from where we come.
